Proper off season dieting is extremely important! Don't get me wrong it is necessary to have some leniency in your diet and imperative to incorporate cheat meals! For me this offseason, I've been doing a cheat meal every day but keeping the rest of my meals clean! Understanding your macros can also help with variety.
I been doing this for 10 years & if I was eating nothing but chicken, tilapia, and asparagus I probably wouldn't have lasted as long as I have! The surplus in the calories is going to help you gain strength and size. Not to mention it is going to help build your metabolism once entering your "prep-mode".
You want your baseline metabolism to be rev'd up as high as possible so your body can shred down on a higher calorie intake, which won't leave you eating lettuce and water a week out from your show! Understand balance and incorporate variety!
